BONDI BEACH LOCAL CULTURE

A trip to Sydney is not complete without seeing this stunning landmark, with its surfers and lifeguards who patrol the beach each day of the week between the yellow and red flags.

Bondi beach with its fabulous weather and its turquoise waters has a charismatic charm for those who contemplate meeting peculiar and amazing characters, as well as meeting with the local and imported dazzling creatures who seem to be enjoying Bondi beach's funky waterside lifestyle and indulging in its cafe rich environment.

Bondi draws more visitors to its sandy stretch of beach front, than any other beach in Australia. Its cafés, boutiques, restaurants and pubs splashed throughout, Bondi has managed to retain a degree of beachside neighborhood charm as well as indulge over one million international tourists per year.

The party atmosphere rages from September to March (the spring and summer months peak season) and slows to a hectic pace in the off season. So if your dream is for un crowded beaches and some quite time sleeping, this is not the place for you.

Bondi is also home to one of the oldest Surf Life Saving Clubs dating back to 1906, and it is the closest beach to the Sydney city centre (8kms).

Bondi Beach can attract more than 40,000 visitors on a typical summer weekend. Offering topless sun baking, swimming and great surfing for boards and bodies.

A popular destination with those who love the water, its local surf conditions can range from very large surfable waves to calm quiet from one day to the next.

Bondi also has fantastic restaurants, cafes and an exciting nightlife. The local dress code is often casual with t-shirts, sandals and shorts are acceptable in many establishments. The Bondi Pavilion is a great source of entertainment and exhibitions, often featuring local artists and musicians.

There is a great coastal walk (6km) starting at the south end of the beach that takes in spectacular ocean views and allows you to visit a number of smaller but still beautiful beaches all the way to Coogee, in the south.
