Is it
safe?
MODIFIED RULES for ages 6–8
and 9-12 combine with a
strictly policed SAFEPLAY
CODE and a DIVISIONAL
COMPETITION STRUCTURE to
ensure that children can
enjoy the fun of Rugby
League without fear of
serious injury.
Coaches and trainers are
qualified to levels set by
the Australian Rugby League
.
The Children’s Hospital
Institute of Sports
Medicine, Westmead has
conducted an injury study of
almost 400 junior teams
(Ages 6-17) and concluded-

.“….that occurrences of
injury in Junior Rugby
League are similar, if not
lower (when compared to
other published data) than
other sports such as
cricket, soccer and
basketball….often promoted
as ‘safe sports’.”
2 .“Public perception of
Junior Rugby League as being
a high injury sport has been
developed from MEDIA
exposure of the ELITE game”.
Are players of differing
abilities catered for?
Within each age group teams
are graded in divisions
suited to their ability as
displayed in trial games and
past performance. There is a
review of each team grading
after 5 competition rounds.
What costs are involved?
All
football playing uniform
(except boots and mouth
guard) supplied
The only cost involved is an
annual club membership fee
of $22.00 single or $55.00
per family.
When does the season
commence?
The
playing season typically
commences 2-3 weeks before
Easter. Mini League (Under 6
to under 8)

Approx 12 games
Mod League (Under 9 to
under 12) “ 14 games
International (Under 13
and older) “ 16 games
Training and
registration usually
begin late Feb/early
March
When and where do you play?
Games are played on Sunday
in the combined Sydney
Roosters/South Sydney
Juniors competition. Games
are played at various
grounds in the Waverley and
South Sydney council areas.
Insurance – what am I
covered for?
Insurance for all players
and officials is provided by
Sydney Roosters. Please
contact Secretary for
further details.
What is the club
uniform?
The
club colours are Green and
White and uniforms can be
seen on our Team Gear page
Can I learn new sports admin
skills eg coaching,
officiating etc?
The
club provides opportunities
for interested members to
complete courses in:
coaching, sports trainer and
first aid, sports
administration, and referee
certificate.
Does the club run activities
that are not Rugby League
related?
Yes. Bondi United has a
number of associated sports
including ladies netball and
basketball.
During the summer we have a
large swimming club that
meets every Sunday morning
at Bondi Baths. Everyone
from toddlers upward
welcome.
Over the year the club has a
number of social and
fundraising events that all
club members are encouraged

What does the committee do?
The
committee runs the club at
administration level. The
committee’s work includes
organising fundraising,
recruitment of new members,
organise and run special
events, responsibly
administer club finances,
liase with all relevant
Junior League authorities,
organise team equipment, and
to be there for the members.
Can I become more involved
in the club?
Yes, Yes, Yes! – The more
people involved the more the
club can do. Assistance at
any level is most welcome.
To make the club fun for
it’s members the more
socials and club events the
better. Your assistance in
these areas would be greatly
appreciated. The club holds
a number of significant
events each year, Major
raffle at Aussie Stadium and
the Senior Presentation
night. These events take a
considerable amount of
organising and all help is
welcome.
Can I contribute
articles or news items to
the website or newsletter?
Anybody is welcome to submit
anything at all; it doesn’t
always have to be about
sport, it can be just an
interesting article. All
contact details are provided
elsewhere in this site.
